Some women expect to get flowers from their boyfriends. Others, like this 18-year-old student from Carmen in Cotabato, received something a little more special from her boyfriend: Jollibee.

Rosemarie Jose, an incoming college freshman, showed us how apologies should be done on Saturday when she received a surprise Jollibee delivery from her long-distance boyfriend, who wanted to ask for her forgiveness.

In an online post that has been shared almost 81,000 times, Jose showed several photos of her holding on to her food haul. She also attached screenshots of posts made by other Filipinos online who have received surprise Jollibee (and even McDonald’s) delivery.

“So guys, never lose hope that you’ll get the same thing too. Thank you so much,” she wrote, apparently elated by her swag.

In a chat interview with Coconuts Manila, Jose said her boyfriend Romelito Pelipog, who is based in Bataan, sent the food to her by asking the help of one of his friends.

“I didn’t ask him to send me the food. We had a fight and we haven’t talked for two days. Then after that, I saw a lot of people on my timeline [receiving surprise food deliveries]. So I shared those with the caption ‘I hope everyone gets the same.’ I mean, you will feel really jealous [when you see those posts],” she said in English and Filipino.

“So he thought that one way for us to get back together is to send me [food].”

Jose admitted that she was “so happy” and found the gesture romantic, and it encouraged her to forgive her boyfriend.

“Even if he lives so far, he still made the effort [to woo me],” she said.

Sigh. To be young and to be so in love.
