Around 9 to 14 typhoons may hit the country from June until November, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
The rainy season officially began in the country last May 30.
No typhoon however is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility until Tuesday, June 20.
The Philippines, this year has had 4 tropical cyclones namely Auring, Bising, Crising, and Dante.
The Philippine islands are often the first major landmass to be hit by storms that generate over the Pacific. The country endures about 20 major storms each year, many of them deadly.
PAGASA however noted that for now, most parts of the country may expect fair weather in the morning and rain showers at night.
War-torn Marawi City however is expected to experience rains until next week. Movements in mountainous parts would be difficult because of possible landslides.
PAGASA meanwhile clarified that there are no indications that La Niña or El Niño would hit the country this year.
To better equip the public with updates, weather bureau chief Esperanza Cayanan said PAGASA will revise the impact warning signals to put more focus on the weather’s impact to a certain area and less focus on wind speed.
There will be a corresponding impact to every storm signal such as a tropical warning signal number 4 would cause closure of roads due to fallen trees and collapse of bridges, and total power disruption.
Cayanan also reminded the public to keep themselves informed on the meaning of storm signal color codes so they could act properly.
