A 7-year-old girl was found dead in her neighbor’s house with 28 stab wounds in San Pedro town in Laguna on Wednesday afternoon.

Eleona Mychie Remoquillo’s body was found after a neighbor named Rico Heredia spotted red liquid trickling out of the house.

Heredia told GMA News that he saw the suspect, a 15-year-old boy who just moved to their neighborhood two months ago, standing beside Remoquillo’s corpse.

“I was standing three feet away from the door then we saw the boy holding a knife. I told him, ‘Hey, what happened to you?'” Heredia said, adding that the boy initially tried to pretend the blood was his. “He said, ‘Brother, I was slicing eggplants and I accidentally slashed my hand.'”

The victim was rushed by her family to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

According to San Pedro police, Remoquillo was allegedly invited by the suspect in his home to play with him at around 4pm, Abante TNT reports. Authorities told Pang Masa that they believe the suspect tried to molest the girl and that she fought him off, prompting him to stab her to death.

However, the boy denied the allegations, later saying that a masked man took the girl, punched him in the stomach, and placed a towel over his face that made him lose consciousness. The suspect’s older sister has said the family is willing to cooperate in the investigation.

“If my brother has anything to do with it, we will not stand by him. [But] we asked him several times in private, and he said he had nothing to do with her death,” she said.

Social welfare officers said the suspect had allegedly been forced to drop out of school because he was allegedly bullied by his classmates, and that they would look into whether that was true, and whether boy was suffering from depression.

The boy had moved to the neighborhood to help his sister take care of her child.

The teen suspect is currently with the police, but will be turned over to the Department of Social Work and Development because he is a minor.
