Seven people were injured yesterday when a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank reportedly exploded inside a milk tea shop in Sampaloc, Manila.

The blast came from the milk tea shop Yogurt and Tea House, which is located on Dalupan Street in Sampaloc, CNN Philippines reported. Authorities believe the explosion was caused by a leak from the LPG tank.

The victims, who sustained only minor injuries, were identified as Marilyn Parreño, 57; Shiley Villarazo, 47; Merliza Defeo, 42; Raeniel Garcia, 37; Live Espino, 28; Jeffrey Hernandez, 28; and Mark Joseph Macabale, 3, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.

They were rushed to the nearby Mary Chiles General Hospital after the blast, GMA News reported.

Just how close is that hospital? Its own glass windows were shattered by the blast, which occurred directly across teh street. Six vehicles which were parked nearby were also damaged.

Authorities were quick to dispel any notion that the explosion came from a bomb, saying that they didn’t find any parts of an improvised explosive device in the area.
