There is another online petition asking the government to fire blogger and Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson that is circulating online.

The campaign was posted on the petition website Change.org by Kremlin Pandaan. It calls on PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar and President Rodrigo Duterte to remove Uson from her government post.

“She is repeatedly delivering unverified news to the public where ironically, she is an anti-fake news advocate herself,” the petition’s description says.

The petition was posted on the same day opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes IV filed charges of libel, graft, and ethics violations against Uson because she posted a video and accused the senator of having multimillion bank accounts.

Uson has shared fake news on her Facebook page several times in the past year.

Last year, she shared a photo of a rape victim with the caption: ““Truly revolting – Nine-year old raped and murdered and we haven’t heard condemning this brutal act from humanrightists, bishops and ‘presstitutes’ who are derailing the government’s war against drugs and crime.” But the photo was taken in Brazil and not the Philippines.

In August, she posted an old photo of a police officer’s wake with a graphic that accused Vice President Leni Robredo and opposition senators Trillanes, Bam Aquino, and Risa Hontiveros of not paying their respects. “Calling Leni, Bam, Trillane, and Hontiveros, when will you visit?” the caption said in Filipino.

The erroneous post led to the viral #FireMocha online campaign last month.

According to a Rappler report, Uson earns at least PHP106,454 (US$2,097) every month as assistant secretary. In contrast, the average annual family income for Filipinos is PHP267,000 (US$ 5,259).

Kremlin ended the petition’s description by saying that ousting Uson is a way to assure that the government has officials that are fit for the job.

“By removing Mocha Uson, Filipinos are a step forward in making sure that competent appointees are those eligible for their respective positions,” it said.

The petition has 52,003 supporters of the 75,000 goal that was set as of this posting.
