Five still unidentified men were killed in Barangay (Village) Malubog in a suspected ambush in Cebu City earlier today.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that the victims were found at around 3am. Two of the victims were found inside a van while the other three were found lying on the ground near two motorcycles, ABS-CBN News reported.

All the victims reportedly succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities recovered around 30 empty bullet shells of different calibers around the crime scene, Sunstar reported. Firearms were also retrieved from the van, along with big packs that contained white crystalline substance believed to be shabu (meth).

Senior Police Officer 3 Antonio Din, investigator of Cebu City Police Office-Station 4, told radio station DYHP that the men were possibly involved in the illegal drug trade. Din said the transaction might’ve gone south, which resulted in the incident.
