After a long and inspiring battle with a rare blood cancer, Courageous Caitie can now rest. No more pain.
Caitlin Lucas, 3, passed away on Thursday afternoon, Mar 31. The news was confirmed by her mother on the Courageous Caitie Facebook page.
Caitie’s last picture with her parents was uploaded, “Today our daughter has gone to Jesus already,” read the caption.
An earlier update said that Caitie was in critical condition because her oxygen level was not going up.
Caitie’s story went viral because of her family’s faith and optimism in spite of her “mystery illness”.
They flew to Singapore for diagnosis and treatment earlier this month where she was diagnosed with a rare and serious kind of leukemia caused by an overproduction of immature white blood cells in the bone marrow.
Courageous Caitie’s Facebook page is now filled with messages of sympathy from people who have been touched by her story.
