2 devotees dead during Feast of Black Nazarene 2016

Two devotees died during the annual procession of the Feast of the Black Nazarene on Sat, Jan 9.

At around 2am on Saturday, 58-year-old candle vendor Mauro Arabit died due to acute coronary syndrome.

According to the report of Yuji Vincent Gonzales on Inquirer.net, Arabit died in Evangelista Street.

At around 1130am, five hours after the procession began, the Philippine Red Cross found 27-year-old devotee Alex Fulyedo near the Manila City Hall “lifeless, breathless, and pulseless.”

It was a friend of a Fulyedo who rushed to a PRC post after the 27-year-old devotee “suffered a seizure and fell unconcious,” reports Tricia Aquino on Interaksyon.

According to PRC Secretary General Gwendolyn Pang, Fulyedo was rushed to Ospital ng Maynila and was proclaimed dead on arrival at 1:44pm. The doctor tried to revive him but failed.

In another Inquirer. net story, Nestor Corrales reports that the Fulyedo had liver ailment.

“As of 3pm, the PRC reported to have served 851patients,” reports GMA News Online.

In his Inquirer story, Gonzales said the Quiapo Church was very sad about the two deaths reported. “I will personally go to the burial and get in touch with the families. Lahat ng possible assistance na magagawa natin, gagawin natin,” Quiapo parish priest Msgr Hernando Colonel said.
