A lovers’ quarrel ended in tragedy yesterday when two young children in Surallah, South Cotabato died after their nanny’s ex-boyfriend allegedly stabbed them with a kitchen knife.

Surallah police told Coconuts Manila today that the suspect was identified as George Judilla, the former live-in partner of the children’s nanny Ellen Labatos.

Labatos was not in the family’s home when Judilla arrived at around 8am. The suspect allegedly proceeded to stab the children —  4-year-old and 10-month-old girls — after not finding her ex inside the house. He then allegedly stabbed himself, according to GMA News.

The victims’ father, a pastor, and mother, a teacher, were both at work when the incident happened. An older sibling was in school.

According to Bombo Radyo, initial reports state that Judilla and Labatos had an argument before the incident happened.

The victims’ mother told GMA News that Judilla was brokenhearted after Labatos broke up with him late last month. Apparently, she has fallen in love with someone else.

Police said the suspect acted out of jealousy, another report by Bombo Radyo states.

The victims and the suspect were all rushed to a hospital however, the two children died almost immediately, Bombo Radyo reported.

The suspect was in critical condition but also eventually died last night after sustaining multiple self-inflicted stab wounds, PO3 Oscar Albayasen of the Surallah Police told Bombo Radyo.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
