A 19-year-old inebriated college student died from a motorcycle accident in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, a local media reported yesterday.

Thaleah Mae Renon, a resident of the city’s village of Salendig, slammed into a concrete wall while driving on the way home.

The victim was reportedly not wearing a helmet when she was driving at a fast pace. She suffered a head fracture and her legs were broken from the accident.

Her distraught father Victor Renon said he urged the victim to come home and even offered to pick her up from her location, the news program Balitang Amianan reported.

“She came home but she got into an accident,” Victor said with regret. “If I didn’t ask her to come home she might still be alive today.”

Chester Dandin, the chief investigator of the Vigan Police, said that the victim lost control of her motorbike because she was driving too fast.

“If she followed the curfew, she would not have been in an accident. And even if she didn’t follow the curfew,  if she wore a helmet, she would still be alive today,” Dandin said in English and Filipino.
