Yet another reason not to listen to music with such a high volume.

A 17-year-old woman’s head was severed yesterday after she was hit by a train she did not hear was coming in Cabuyao City, Laguna.

GMA News TV Balita Pilipinas identified the victim as Sofia Jully Postanes.

According to the police investigation, Postanes had just gotten off a tricycle and was crossing the train tracks in Barangay (Village) Banay-Banay. She was reportedly wearing earphones at the time.

The report added that Postanes probably didn’t hear the incoming Philippine National Railways (PNR) train when the freak accident happened.

The PNR has extended its condolences to the victim’s family and will reportedly give financial assistance to the bereaved.

Police are still investigating the incident.

GMA News’ Balitambayan reported that from January to May this year, around 17 people have been hit by a PNR train.
