Date: Opened June 5, Wednesday
Venue: All major cinemas nationwide

If you thought the slew of Hollywood superhero movies coming out was about to slow down after Avengers: Endgame — nope! The onslaught continues. Less than two months after April’s Avengers debut, another film based on a Marvel comic book came out this week: X-Men Dark Phoenix.

The latest installment in the X-Men film series, this one continues the events from X-Men First Class, X-Men Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse — prequels to the popular movie trilogy released in the early 2000s.

At the center of Dark Phoenix is a young Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) who grapples with her powers (insaaaane levels of telekinesis, among others), and evolves into the Dark Phoenix, one of Marvel’s most iconic characters.

The film also stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Jessica Chastain.

Dark Phoenix is the culmination of the X-Men series at Fox, as Marvel Studios has acquired back its rights to the franchise.

It is now out in all major cinemas nationwide.

How is everyone doing with their 2019 New Year’s resolutions? That’s what the upcoming Failures Anonymous event plans to discuss.

Happening on Friday, Failures Anonymous: Resolution Edition calls on anyone and everyone looking for a friendly group of people to talk about their failures with. But as its organizers say: this is not a rant session. Instead, it is meant to encourage people to see failure as a friend and not a foe.

Rather than just looking back at what they have not done, attendees will also create mid-year resolutions and look forward to the future.

Door charge is PHP200 (US$3.86), inclusive of one beer.
