Date: June 28, Friday
Venue: Ayala Room, 2/F National Museum of Anthropology, Rizal Ave., Manila

June’s Pride Month celebrations will come to a close this week. For a last hurrah, film lovers can go to a free film screening of the award-winning documentary Sunday Beauty Queen this Friday.

It tells the story of Filipino domestic workers in Hong Kong who join a beauty pageant. More than just about the contest itself though, the film is really focused on the lives of Filipino women (and one trans man) and the struggles they face while working in a foreign country.

The film won Best Picture and Best Editing, among other awards, at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2016. It was also the Audience Choice for Best Documentary at the CinemaAsia Film Festival 2017 in the Netherlands.

Organized by the National Museum of the Philippines, the film screening will be held at the National Museum of Anthropology at 2pm.
