This weekend is looking to be very musical. First up on the event list is tomorrow’s Karpos Live Mix 3, and it’s not even officially the weekend yet.

The event will bring together American ambient pop band Cigarettes After Sex and local favorite UDD, so expect a blend of ethereal sounds and jazzy synthpop beats.

The concert starts at 7pm and will be held at the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent in Quezon City.

Tickets are available at the Karpos Live website and are priced at PHP3,250 (US$61.58).

Waitress is a 2oo7 film starring Keri Russel that was turned into a 2016 Broadway musical with music and lyrics by singer Sara Bareilles.

It opens in Manila this week, with a local production by Atlantis Theatrical starring theater actress Joanna Ampil, who has performed in West End shows of Miss Saigon and Les Miserables. 

Waitress the musical tells the story of Jenna, a waitress in an abusive relationship. She unexpectedly becomes pregnant and ends up having an affair with her gynecologist. She finds comfort in baking as she deals with life’s struggles.

Who says K-pop is only about idol groups? Anyone who follows alternative R&B artist Dean certainly knows that’s not true.

The singer, known for hits like I’m Not SorryInstagram, and Bonnie & Clyde, will be having a concert in Quezon City’s New Frontier Theater along with former EvoL member, SAAY.

American Idol season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez is back in Manila and will be holding a concert at The Theatre in Solaire on Saturday.

Fans of OPM (Original Pilipino Music) will be happy to know too that the Filipino Mexican-American singer will be joined by OPM icon and “Concert King” Martin Nievera.

For those who need a refresher on just how talented Sanchez is, here’s one of her Idol performances where she sings And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going from the movie musical Dream Girls.

Sweet Child O’ Mine has got to be one of the most iconic rock anthems and this week, fans of Guns N’ Roses get to experience hearing it live.

Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, and the rest of the group will perform in the massive Philippine Arena in Bulacan on Sunday as part of their Not in this Lifetime world tour.

Filipinos are some of the most passionate K-pop fans in the world, which is why idol groups rarely miss the chance to perform in the country.

Visiting Manila this week is YG Entertainment’s boy band iKon. The seven-member group is known for pop tunes like Goodbye RoadLove Scenario, and Killing Me.

Tickets for the concert are available on SM Tickets and are priced at PHP1,590 (US$30.13) – PHP13,250 (US$251.11)
