A trip to the mall doesn’t have to be all about shopping — sometimes, it can be cultural too.

Taking over the SMX Convention Center space in SM Aura Premier this week is the ManilArt Fair and Exhibition. From today until Sunday, the event will showcase works by classic Filipino artists alongside young up-and-comers.

General admission tickets are priced at PHP200 (US$3.71) while students, senior citizens, and people with disability can enter for PHP15o (US$2.78). Tickets are available at Ticketbooth.

Lea Salonga is a Filipino icon. And this week, the Tony Award winner (Miss Saigon) and Disney Princess (Aladdin, Mulan) will be going back to where it also started during her 4oth anniversary concert.

It will be held on Friday and Saturday at the PICC Plenary Hall.

Attend an art event for the young and young at heart

INKfest is an event by bookstore Fully Booked and organization Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (INK) that’s all about books and illustrations for kids — and the adults who appreciate this kind of artwork, too.

On Saturday, part of Fully Booked’s Bonifacio High Street branch will be transformed into an art fair. There will be an art exhibit, illustration masterclass, drawing activities, booths selling artists’ merchandise, and storytelling.

See your favorite ’90s boy band live

’90s kids would be happy to know that British-Norwegian boyband A1 is coming to Manila this week for a 2-day concert at the Kia Theatre.

For those who need a refresher about who they are, A1 was very popular in Southeast Asia during the late ’90s. Their hits include Like a Rose, Everytime, and Ready or Not.

The 6th QCinema International Film Festival will start this Sunday and will once again screen independent films from local and international directors.

The festival will be divided into several sections including the Circle Competition, which consists of competing films that received grants from the event organizer; Asian Next Wave, which includes films from Singapore, China, and Thailand, among others; and RainbowQC that champions films about LGBT stories.

Documentaries and foreign films from other parts of the world will also be screened.
