Missed the first leg of Bayanihan Musikahan (“Camaraderie through music”) when it kicked off last week? Don’t worry. There’s more of the free Facebook Live concert in store this week, every day until Sunday.
Organized by composer and National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab, the online concert gathers some of the biggest names in Original Pinoy Music to entertain people cooped up during the Luzon lockdown, and to raise money for urban poor communities in Metro Manila.
The week’s lineup (more on that below) will include artists from a wide variety of genres including folk, hip-hop, acoustic, and jazz performing live. Sets also include artists from Visayas and Mindanao.

“We call on our citizenry to heed the call of the times, to stay at home and to prevent at all costs the spread of this virus that has wreaked havoc all over the world,” Musikahan organizer Cayabyab said in a statement sent to the media.
He added that while some of us are able to stay home, “be reminded that there are many, many of our brothers who are in dire need of assistance in the form of food and medical supplies. This is a call for citizen action. All of us are in this together.”
“We the artists are there to throw a lifeline to the most vulnerable among us: Let’s Unite! Any amount you can donate will all help our countrymen who are in dire need. Let’s help them to the best of our abilities,” the maestro said in English and Filipino.

You can donate as little as PHP100 (about US$2), or as much as you like, through this link.
