(UPDATED), 1st UPDATE. Teens and teens-at-heart, you might want to sit down for what we’re about to tell you. Yesterday, local clothing brand Bench announced that their celebrity endorser, Hollywood actor Cole Sprouse, will have a meet and greet session with fans this month.
“Here it is! Cole Sprouse is coming to Manila, and this is your chance to meet him,” the post’s caption reads. Of course, it being April 1 and all, the brand assured people and said that no, this is not an April Fool’s joke.
But you also can’t blame doubters for thinking this might be a prank because in October last year, it was wrongly reported by various news outlets that he was going to be in town for a Bench fashion show and will walk alongside Brooklyn Beckham. Bench later clarified that the two will not be attending the event.
But it all ended up fine because fans were eventually able to meet Beckham when he came to Manila to promote his photography book in January.
Now, it’s Sprouse’s turn, and he’s got an even more diverse set of fans.
How you know him depends on how old you are. To GenXers, he’s Ross’ son Ben from Friends. Or, if you were into Adam Sandler comedies, he’s that kid from Big Daddy. He played both those characters with his twin Dylan Sprouse.
The two went on to star in the Disney Channel shows The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and The Suite Life on Deck, which is probably where most younger millennials know them from.
Today, he is most known as Jughead Jones on the teen show Riverdale, the soapy but Twin Peaks-esque adaptation of Archie Comics. He is rumored to be dating Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty Cooper on the show, and is also his on-screen partner (Yes, that happens).
Last month, Reinhart made headlines locally when he called Cosmopolitan Philippines out for photoshopping her body in photos posted by the magazine.
The meet and greet will happen on April 20, Friday. Take note that the venue has been changed for the 3pm event. Instead of the SM Mega Fashion Hall, it will be in the SM MOA Music Hall.
The 5pm event will still be in the Glorietta Activity Center.
