Frequent fliers know the reminders by heart: fasten your seatbelts, leave all carry on bags behind during an evacuation, put your own oxygen mask first before helping others. Inflight safety videos are pretty standard, after all — so standard that passengers rarely watch them.

Well, Philippine Airlines (PAL) hopes to change that.

The country’s flag carrier released an inflight safety video, crowd sourced from different parts of the Philippines.

“The crowdsource concept makes PAL’s new safety video unique in the airline world. It is engaging because it is two-pronged: it provides the latest safety guidelines and also generates interest to travel to and within the Philippines,” said PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Jaime J. Bautista in a report by Inquirer.

Called Heart of the Nation Inflight Safety Video, the piece was co-developed with McCann Worldgroup Philippines, Inc. with the support of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Department of Tourism (DOT).

“This is inspired by everyone in the country, for the safety of everyone on this flight,” said the flight attendant at the start of the four-minute piece.

Of course, the video contained usual flight safety rules (it demonstrated the “brace” position as it should!) It even included reminders about e-cigarettes and hot beverages.

What made it extra interesting? It showcased different tourist attractions in the Philippines including Busuanga in Coron, Bangui Windmills in Laoag, and Pearl Farm in Davao. The beautiful shots made the video easy to watch.

You don’t need to be on an actual flight to appreciate it! Watch the full video below.
