No Miss universe in PH this year: Tourism chief

The 2017 Miss Universe pageant will not be held in the Philippines.

This was announced by Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo at the International Conference on Sustainable Tourism for Development on Thursday.

“No Miss Universe this year. Baka next year,” the Tourism chief said.

In an interview last month, Teo revealed that the Philippines has been offered the hosting rights to the next edition of the pageant this November.

At that time, Teo said members of Miss Universe Organization were pleased with the job they did that they want to do the competition in the country again.

The Philippines played host to the prestigious pageant last January. France’s Iris Mittenaere won, succeeding Pia Wurtzbach.
