Musical events to look forward to in 2018

Planning your leaves, dates, and budget to spend on concerts and music shows this year?

From musical theater, to music festivals and band tours, there’s already a lot to be excited about.

This is only an initial list because we’re sure there will be more announcements of shows and bands in the months ahead.

Check out what we’re looking forward to the most in the Philippine music scene this 2018.

1. Wanderland
Date: Saturday, March 10
Location: Filinvest Grounds, Alabang Muntinlupa City

2018 marks the sixth year of the Wanderland Music and Arts Festival. Tickets are already on sale for the show.

Included in the lineup so far are Kodaline, FKJ, Lauv, Quest,  Ben&Ben, and IV of Spades.

2. Malasimbo
Date: Friday, March 23 — Monday, March 26
Location: Puerto Galera, Philippines

If you’re looking for the best the Philippines has to offer, it probably doesn’t get any better than live music at the beach with some partying.

The Malasimbo Acts announced so far are Hiatus Kaiyote, Ruby Ibarra, Yung Bawal, Laneous Band, Stick Figgas, Crwn, and Skarm.

3. Plus63 Music and Arts Festival Cebu
Date: Saturday, January 20
Location: Cebu Business Park, Cebu City

The Plus63 Music and Arts Festival is back for another pre-Sinulog music festival at the Cebu Business Park. Headlining the show is Dutch electronic dance duo Showtek.

Other DJs that will be there include Marc Marasigan, XFactor, Gino X, and Pring.

Plus63 previously brought Steve Angello of the Swedish House Mafia to play last year and Steve Aoki the year before.

4. Musicals

If musical theater is more of your thing, there is a ton to look forward to this year.

The most-anticipated musical so far is The Lion King, which will premier at the Solaire Theatre, in Parañaque City, this March 18.

Other musicals coming up include A Comedy of Tenors, Himala: Isang Musikal, Kinky Bootsand Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

5. Kamikazee 2018 tour


After a two-year hiatus, Filipino band kamikaze, best known for their hits Narda, Chiksilog, and Wala, announced that they will be back on tour this year.

Based on a Facebook post they shared in December 2017, the tour will start on Feb. 3 in Cavite.
