Visit churches in Intramuros

Date: March 29, Thursday
Venue: Intramuros, Manila

Most of us will get Thursday and Friday off this week and if you’re staying in Manila, here’s a twist to your usual Visita Iglesia (Seven Churches Visitation).

In an effort to promote “faith tourism” in the country, the Department of Tourism opened Manila’s historic walled city Intramuros for Visita Iglesia, which has not been available since World War II.

For those not in the know, Visita Iglesia is a Philippine tradition done on Maundy Thursday. People visit seven churches and pray to the Blessed Sacrament, often making a special wish.

Churches and chapels in Intramuros that will be open are:

Manila Cathedral
San Agustin Church
San Ignacio Church
Guadalupe Shrine in Fort Santiago
Knights of Columbus Fr. Willman Chapel
Lyceum of the Philippines University Chapel
Mapua University Chapel

Date: March 29 – April 1 (Thursday – Sunday)
Venue: Nobu Hotel, City of Dreams Manila, Asean Ave. cor Roxas Boulevard, Entertainment City, Parañaque City

Since most people are going to be out of town this week, there’s really no better time to be in Manila if you hate traffic. So if you’ve got nowhere else to be, why not chill in the city instead?

You can make it fun for the entire family when you stay at Nobu Hotel and avail of their staycation package. Each package comes with two nights’ accommodation and complimentary breakfast for two. Kids will enjoy as well since the package comes with four passes to their DreamPlay park.

If you’re a foodie and love Japanese food, you can also meet Chef Nobu Matsuhisa himself during a meet and greet session on Saturday.

Don’t want to miss Lenten services? The hotel also offers free shuttle services until Black Saturday to the nearby Shrine of Jesus church.
