Go on a Valentine’s weekend movie night
Date: Opens Feb. 14 (Wednesday)
Venue: All major cinemas nationwide
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) latest movie Black Panther has been getting a lot of good reviews (98 percent on Rotten Tomatoes!), so if you’re going on a Valentine’s movie night this weekend, don’t miss it.
The movie picks up after events from Captain America: Civil War, where the Black Panther was first introduced, so fans of the MCU won’t want to miss it. Those who aren’t that into comic book movies will probably enjoy it too because it’s supposed to have its own vibe and aesthetic that’s different from anything Marvel Studios has released.
The film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, and Lupita Nyong’o, among others.
Learn about Chinese culture in time for Chinese New Year
Date: Feb. 13 – 18 (Tuesday – Sunday)

The 12th Spring Film Festival is happening this week and like previous years, it will again showcase Chinese films and culture. This year’s movies include Cold War 2, Monster Hunt, Office, Our Shining Days, Walking Past the Future, and What a Wonderful Family.
Apart from the film festival, there will also be a Chinese painting exhibit, a Chinese painting workshop, and a Chinese music concert.
The best part? You get to enjoy them all for free.

Catch a play for your Valentine’s Day celebration
Date: Feb. 16 (Friday) – March 11 (Sunday)
Venue: Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (CCP Little Theater) CCP Complex, Pasay City
If you don’t want to spend the weekend watching movies, maybe a play is more to your liking? Tanghalang Pilipino adapted Nick Joaquin’s children’s story Nang Dalawin ng Pag-ibig si Juan Tamad (When love came to Juan Tamad) into a play and you can watch it starting this Friday.
Staged in the CCP Little Theater, the story is about Juan Tamad, Maria Makiling, and other characters from popular Filipino folk tales.
