Manila’s denizens have another reason to max out their credit cards with the arrival of Off-White.
In a statement posted on its official Instagram page, it said that the brand, founded by American designer Virgil Abloh, will open its store on Hidalgo Dr., Makati City on Aug. 8.
Off-White has 26 other stores all over the globe.
According to fashion website Preview, the brand will be brought to the country by H&F Retail Concepts, Inc., the same company behind posh clothing store Univers d’homme et femme.
Pop culture website Scout reported that the store will also launch a shirt that will only be available in its Manila branch.
The shirt, with a massive “X” mark on the back, was posted on the brand’s Instagram page.
Netizens are excited, of course. Instagram user @carloparguelles posted on the brand’s Instagram page that the shirt is “dope af.”
While @mtlkicks514 wants to know which shoes they’re going to sell in the Manila store.
A @dukmaniquis wondered: “Will the lines be long during the opening?”
On the other hand, @808castro said the announcement made the day “good.”
Abloh, who also serves as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear collection, founded the brand in Milan in 2013.
In 2016, he opened Off-White’s first overseas concept store in the Aoyama district in Tokyo. The store became known for its branded drinking cups that customers can resell on the market.
It remains to be seen if the same idea will be duplicated in Manila.
