It’s hard to believe that at one time, we had a hard time talking about s-e-x in the open.
We have Dr. Margarita Holmes and her book, Life Love Lust to thank for our current openness and candidness about the matter.
In 1990, Dr. Margarita Holmes shocked her way into the limelight by speaking nonchalantly about sex and having quite the intelligent point of view, too.
She authored a book, Life Love Lust: Straightforward Answers to Provocative Questions, which pretty much blazed the trail for candid but informative discussion on sex. She, along with Julie Yap Daza, became some sort of an adviser to many Filipinas who have long kept questions and harbored secrets about their sex life.
Fast forward to 2015 and her book now celebrates its 25th birthday with…a special, updated edition. In the new edition, Dr. Holmes gives new answers to age-old questions.
She “incorporates the changes that have come to pass and affected the public attitdes and private practices on sex since then,” writes Pennie Azarcon-dela Cruz in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The 25th edition, published by Anvil of course, “seals the reputation of Holmes not only as a ‘repository of (dark) secrets…but as a clinical psychologist who anchors insights borne of expertise with street smarts and humor,” continues dela Cruz.
