The Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) film festival ended its week-long run yesterday but Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Chairman Liza Diño-Seguerra said in a Facebook Live video yesterday that most of the 12 films showcased will stay in select theaters.

Diño-Seguerra said that the top three highest-gross films in the festival,  100 Tula Para Kay Stella, Patay na si Hesus, and Bar Boys will have an extended theatrical run. This means they will remain in theaters but not as part of the PPP.

She also said that the nine other films in the festival will be shown in several Cine Lokal locations. However, she shared Cine Lokal’s official announcement today which says that all but one of the films will be in its cinemas.

The eight films will be shown in eight Cine Lokal cinemas in SM malls around the country. These malls include Mall of Asia, Megamall, North Edsa, Fairview, Southmall, Bacoor, Iloilo, and Cebu.

Apart from the three films with extended theatrical releases, only Ang Manananggal Sa Unit 23B will not be shown in in Cine Lokal cinemas.

Diño-Seguerra’s announcement came after people campaigned for an extension of the festival online. #ExtendPPP was the fourth trending topic on Philippine Twitter as of this posting.
