Amid Duterte’s disapproval, Steve Harvey can’t wait to host Miss Universe in PH

It looks like Steve Harvey is unfazed by reports that President Rodrigo Duterte does not want him to host the Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines on Jan 2017.

In a tweet to reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach on Sat, Aug 3, the US TV host said he can’t wait to host the international beauty pageant.

“(Throwback) to the night that changed my life. (Steve Harvey), let’s do it again and change someone else’s life,” Pia tweeted.

Steve replied: “Can’t wait, let’s do it.”

The tweets came after Department of Tourism secretary Wanda Teo revealed last week that Duterte is not in favor of Steve hosting the Miss Universe pageant in the country.

Steve famously botched the announcement of winners during the 2015 Miss Universe pageant in the US.

But many interpreted Pia’s tweet as a sign of support for Steve amid Duterte’s disapproval.

Teo said Steve is “definitely” going to host the pageant since he is under a multi-year contract with the Miss Universe Organization.

Teo added she is hoping that she could convince Duterte to compromise by giving Harvey a Filipino co-host.
