Sometimes even the most severe case of wanderlust is tempered by the dread of having to organize the trip. The ordeal of deciding, planning, booking, not to mention getting your besties on board, can be daunting. If you’re relating hard, you’re not alone.

A regional survey of South East Asia by Beringer Vineyards from Napa Valley showed that 1 in 2 people lose an average of 4 days of annual leave due to poor planning. 1 in 3 respondents also believed that they could make better use of their time off if they were better at planning their holidays. Don’t become a statistic!

Planning is better when it’s done with others, over a glass of wine (or two), so gather your travel buddies, crack open a bottle and start mapping out that a trip of a lifetime.

  1. The Internet to the rescue

Holiday planning, where do we even begin?? Head straight to the Beringer microsite created in collaboration with TripAdvisor to find out more about trending destinations and travel hacks to get a head start on planning.

  1. Gather the troops

With 4 out of 5 Singaporeans saying holiday planning is better when it’s social (preferably over a glass of wine), you can cheekily disguise your next planning session as a dinner get-together. Having face-to-face meetings speeds up the decision-making process and planning socially makes it more enjoyable too.

  1. Where to, folks?

The most important question is, where the heck are we going? Ask your travel partners what they are hoping to get out of their holiday–adrenaline pumping adventures or learning about a new culture? Answer these questions, narrow the list and vote on it.

  1. Give yourself a budget

After agreeing on a destination, you should also decide on a budget that everyone is comfortable with. This will set the tone for the rest of your trip, from selecting flights to choosing where to stay and what to eat.

  1. How long can you go?

Do some research on how much time is usually spent at the selected holiday destination and use that as a guide. Then discuss possible dates with your travel buddies, but make sure to factor in additional “travel days” if you are visiting more than one city.

  1. Is it a good time?

This is especially important if you are visiting a specific attraction, as you don’t want to turn up at a beach destination during the monsoon season. Look up hashtags and geotags of the location.

Pro-Tip: Go for holidays a week before or after the peak travel season so you don’t get overrun by other tourists.

  1. Work together

Almost everyone (94 percent!) agreed that planning is more fun when the responsibility is shared. So gather the troops and work off a shared to do list. With everyone taking charge of different aspects of the trip, you’ll avoid a hot mess of stress, and get things done much faster.

  1. Create a packing list

Don’t leave packing to the last minute. Monitor the weather forecast, create a packing list, and think about whether your accommodation will have laundry facilities and if you can creatively mix and match your clothes to leave luggage space for souvenirs and shopping.

  1.  Enjoy the fruits of your labour

Now that you’ve gone through the hardest process of the trip, give yourself a pat on the back and reward yourself with a glass of wine while you patiently wait for your vacation to start. Don’t forget your passports!

To start your planning process off right, Beringer Vineyards is giving away 4 pairs of their top selling wines. Each of the two prizes up for grabs consists of one bottle of Beringer Founders Estate Chardonnay and one bottle of Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon.

4 Prizes

2 Bottles of wine each:

Beringer Founders Estate Chardonnay + Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon

The golden Chardonnay and dark and fruity Cabernet Sauvignon come straight from Beringer Vineyards in Napa Valley. Beringer has been Napa Valley’s benchmark producer since its establishment in 1876. It’s also the oldest continually running vineyard in the famed wine-making region. Ok, we got a bad case of the travel bug just thinking about the historic Beringer Estate in Napa Valley.

To enter to win one of two prizes email info@coconuts.co with subject “I want to do some travel planning over Beringer wine” and tell us where you’re planning to travel next. We’ll pick our favorite answers to win, so get creative.

Entries close on April 30, 2018 and winners will be notified by email shortly after. Then, start planning your trip over a glass of delicious Beringer wine. Clink clink, happy travels!
