You don’t have to go that far for your next barkada trip, and you don’t have to spend all those hard earned pesos either! Because we’re counting down some of our favorite, awesomely affordable attractions in Metro Manila.
Escolta
Road trip to Escolta, the historic street in the downtown district of Binondo was created in 1594. Needless to say it’s filled with history, but we also love the great food and shopping.
Chinatown
Impressive architecture and delicious food await at Chinatown. It’s another location to get a dose of history, this time from Manila’s Chinese community. Siopao, anyone?
Divisoria
This market is a bargain hunter’s paradise in the middle of Manila. This shopping mecca has everything from clothes and accessories to office supplies and fresh food. Just plan your route, and your time wisely. We could spend all day here!
Food Hive
Talaga? Are you seriously including another food destination on this list, you ask? Well, when the food is this good, we couldn’t leave it out! Haven’t you noticed how serious we are about our snacks? Check out Cool Juans for ice cream, Blaze for sizzling bulalo sisig rice meal, La Carnita for tasty tacos and Po.Bo for pizza fries.
Bengal Brew
Chill out with the most chilled out felines around at Bengal Brew in Cubao. Give the leopard-like fellas a pat on the head or buy them a treat, but if they’re napping don’t even attempt to disturb their slumber. This is where cats rule, after all.
Jump Yard
Get pumped! Jump Yard is Manila’s trampoline park with massive ball pit, basketball hoops and more.
Up Down Museum
Go from jumping higher than an NBA player to the topsy turvy world of the Up Down Museum. Can you fit these both into one road trip? Your senses will be jumbled up but your selfies will be seriously cool.
Lazer Maxx
The laser tag arena in Quezon City is where your barkada can split up into teams and let the neon shots fire! Time to get in touch with your inner Stormtrooper.
Manila Street Food
Then, take a break and sample world-famous street food. There are a ton of street food gems in Malate from squid balls and quail eggs to chicken isaw.
Sunset of Manila Bay
It’s the perfect end to a road trip, or the ultimate starting point for an evening street food feast. Whatever route you plan to for your trip, we recommend catching the beautiful sunset over Manila Bay.
