It’s gonna be raining munchies at Charlie’s Grind and Grill next week, as the local dining joint will be celebrating its 11th anniversary by selling unlimited burgers for just one day.
All customers need to do is to troop to Charlie’s Kapitolyo branch in Pasig City on September 27. For PHP300 (US$5), they can eat burgers nonstop, as much as they can stuff themselves with, from 11am to 2pm, or during dinner hours from 6pm to 9pm.
But of course, there are house rules: sharing is prohibited, and diners can only have another burger after the previous serving has already been consumed. This promo is valid for dine-in transactions only, so no, you can’t have the burgers delivered to your home.
Charlie’s Grind and Grill was named after Charlie Nagreen, said to be the original inventor of the hamburger (legend has it that after failed attempts to profit off of selling meatballs at a city fair in Wisconsin, United States, Nagreen started to smush the meatballs between bread so that fair-goers could eat and walk at the same time, and voila — the rest is history, as they say).
As for the Filipino diner that bears his namesake, the flagship branch in Kapitolyo became an instant hit among the young and hip crowd soon after its initial launch. Aside from its American-style burgers, it also serves fries, chicken wings, pasta, hot dog sandwiches and local craft beers.
