Martin Andanar: Those against Marcos burial at LNMB are like ‘temperamental brats’

Presidential Communications Office (PCO) chief Martin Andanar writes a column for the Philippine Daily Inquirer called “Brew Point.”

However, by virture of Andanar’s latest entry about the burial of President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB), his column might as well be called “Boiling Point.”

Andanar, of course, declares that he supports the Supreme Court’s decision to allow the burial amid the protests launched by martial law victims and the families of those who were killed during the tumultuous era.

No matter which side you may find yourself, it can’t be denied that the issue is controversial and has polarized the nation.

Instead of trying to provide some level-headed insight into the matter, Andanar offers observations that may incite conflict even further.

The man even likes those opposing the Marcos burial at the LNMB to those in the U.S. who cannot accept the fact that Donald Trump has just been elected as President of the United States.

Here are three particularly incendiary statements, which we cite word-for-word, from Andanar’s column:

1. “During the oral arguments, those opposing the burial resorted to every underhanded tactic in the book.”

2. “If Trump should not be trusted with the nuclear codes, the anti-burial people should not be trusted with administering the rule of law.”

3. “Both the Americans protesting the outcome of a fair election and the Filipinos objecting to the well-considered ruling of our own Supreme Court are undermining institutions. They are temperamental brats refusing to concede to the outcome of regular processes.”

In any case, you can always read Andanar’s entire column by clicking on this link.

Maybe we missed something. Maybe he’s so smart that we just can’t comprehend the sheer genius of his logic. All we are saying is, the controversial case has already been decided on so there’s really no need to rub it in. Then again, maybe that was Andanar’s intention.
