Yet another water disruption caused by odour pollution!

If you woke up on Sunday morning and found that your taps are dry, here’s the reason why.

Residents staying in the Petaling, Sepang Hulu Langat and Kuala Langat districts are experiencing water supply disruption.

According to a statement released by Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) cited by Bernama, the disruption was reportedly caused by odour pollution from the Nilai industrial area in Negeri Sembilan.

As a result, the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (LRA) was forced to close at 7.30am on Sunday.

However, Syabas said in the statement that emergency water supply delivery will be carried out to critical premises such as hospitals and dialysis centres.

This is the second such case in less than two weeks; on October 10, the Cheras and Langat water treatment plants were forced to close down due to odour pollution at the Semantan River in Pahang, with the water disruption affecting more than 420,000 houses in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling and Hulu Langat.
