The video of robbers attempting to break through bulletproof glass at a Shah Alam jewelry store has gone viral, after their full-hearted attempts to ransack the establishment were thwarted by “unbreakable” glass that proved just that.

The attempted robbery, which took place Monday this week, saw six men storm the shop, which is located in a hypermarket in the Section 23 area of Shah Alam, at about 6:30pm.

The video quickly descends into unintentional comedy as the robbers repeatedly trying to break the glass with mallets, to no avail, managing only tiny pockets of access that were likely to slit their wrists before they got access to any of the bounty below.

Not even two robbers, whacking the glass with hammers as though they were breaking concrete, could do the job.

Public service request: Please give us the deets on that glass. It’s not every day that a product does exactly what it says. RIP to my 1997 “unshatterable” ruler. You definitely shattered when I tried to break you.

The Sun reports that two of the robbers held guns, one brandishing it at store employees, and the other standing guard at the door. Today, the shop owners say that the store will only return to operation once all the repairs have been completed, giving traumatized employees a chance to recover.

Store owners say that although no jewelry was taken, robbers still caused RM80,000 (USD20,000) of damage.

New highs, new lows: Cost of viral CCTV video now at RM80,000.
