Two women at the center of the viral video clip that showed them abusing children at the kindergarten where they both used to work were charged in court earlier today.

Rozana Sawal, 41 and Nor Sulastri Suratmi Bahrom, 22, both plead not guilty to the charges, despite video evidence alleging the contrary.

The post has since been pulled down.

Charges against Rozana pertain to the physical abuse of the three-year-old she was caught on camera slapping with such forced that he fell off his chair, as well as another count of assaulting a five-year-old boy in the same manner.

Nor Sulastri faces charges that include physically abusing a three-year old girl, forcing her to sit on another child, pinching her, and biting another boy’s arm.

Worryingly, all of the offenses that were clocked in by the court seem to be just a day’s work for the two: Each assault occurred on the same morning of July 30, between 9am and 11am, in the Melaka area.

Teaching permits for both women have since been withdrawn since the incident went viral this month.

If found guilty, punishment could range from 20 years imprisonment, to a maximum fine of RM50,000. Or both!

Prosecutors did not propose bail, though the presiding judge allowed both women to post a RM10,000 (US$2,500) bond, and to report to their local police station monthly. They’ve also been asked to stay away from their victims and witnesses.

Court is set for September 26 for the pair.
