Twenty people from six families were rescued when a fire that broke out in a four-storey building in Taman Sri Andalas, Klang yesterday engulfed its upper floors.

According to a report by The Star Online, the victims, including a baby, were trapped inside their homes which had been covered in thick smoke for about 45 minutes.

It was reported that the fire began in the ground floor warehouse that stored plastic and polystyrene materials.

Catching on to the inflammable material, the fire spread rapidly, the news portal said.

Klang Fire and Rescue Services Department acting zone chief Amer Haizal Sahak was quoted as saying that the fire was brought under control in 30 minutes.

All those rescued were reportedly rushed to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for smoke inhalation treatment.
