A teenager with stomach problems was abandoned at a petrol station after he exited his family’s vehicle to use the restroom, when his aunt, who was unaware of his absence, drove off.

According to a Facebook post by the traffic police on April 25, two patrolling police officers discovered the 15-year-old at a Petronas petrol station located in the rest and service area (R&R) in Tapah, Perak.

Inspector Muhamad Hafizd and his colleague Firzad Shamir attempted to locate his guardians and were able to contact his father.

The boy was finally safely handed over to his father at the Tapah toll plaza.

The police also took made use of the situation as a photo op and included the awkward and amusing photos in their post. There was a posed one of the teen smiling at the camera while two officer flanking him look at him with concern and then another of the two officers in the car with the teen who is putting a thumbs up sign.

As of the time of writing, the Facebook post had received nearly 1,000 likes. In the comments section, a netizen who appeared to be the boy’s father thanked the police officers for their assistance.

We’re just glad the story had a gut ending .
