Today’s squash matches have been temporarily suspended at the SEA Games, after international competitors were hurt when the bus they were traveling in this morning was involved in an accident with another bus.

The 13 athletes traveling on the bus were from Myanmar, Philippines and Thailand. The injured are reported to be from Myanmar. Filipino and Thai players are reported to be “shaken” but unhurt. The Myanmar players have been taken to the National Sports Institute for treatment.

The bus was en route to the National Squash Center via the athletes’ hotel in Putrajaya when the accident occurred near the Sungai Besi toll plaza.

One of the buses had to break suddenly to avoid hitting a motorcycle that had veered into its lane (unsurprising). The bus behind could not slow-down in time, and hit the bus in front.

Here’s to wishing all of the athletes involved a speedy recovery, and best of luck when their matches resume.
