Sultan of Johor denounces Muslims-only laundromat with a powerful message of unity

The man behind the religiously exclusive “Muslims Only” Johor launderette is eating his words, after the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar told The Star that he was “deeply appalled” by the owner’s premise.

He added that such narrow-minded actions in the name of Islam had no room in his state. To the relief of equally appalled Malaysians, he added:

“I cannot accept this nonsense. This is Johor, which belongs to Bangsa Johor (the people of Johor) and it belongs to all races and faiths

This is a progressive, modern, and moderate state. This is not a Taliban state and as the Head of Islam in Johor, I find this action to be totally unacceptable as this is extremist in nature.”

PREAAAACH! Hail to the Sultan, for publicly taking a stand on the divisive action by the laundromat owner.

After a social media outcry, the owner changed the sign from “Muslims only” to “Muslim friendly.”

His Majesty minced no words when addressing this:

“Don’t try to be clever. It’s still the same. The owner needs to have his brains cleaned up.”

We like what you did there, Your Majesty. Oh the irony!

The owner has since apologized, and removed the signboard.
