Stop, in the name of love: Man puts up banner ads in town hoping to find wife

Amy Winehouse may have sung that “love is a losing game” (Monday feels, y’all!), but for one Terengganu-area man, that’s a risk he was willing to take.

Noor Aziro bun Abdullah became weary of trying his luck online, and decided to take his profile to the streets, setting up two advertising banners in and around the town of Dungun in the eastern state.

After spending time looking for a wife online, the 35-year-old told English-language daily Malay Mail that he wanted to change up the game, as he encountered too much competition on social media.

His poster certainly seems to have succeeded in drumming up attention, with the eye-catching personals ad eventually making its way to Twitter over the weekend, where it soon went viral.

Aziro has confirmed that the ad appears to be working, saying he’s getting calls from possible suitors in Kedah, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Kuantan, and even from an admirer in Penang, who commended him for using an original idea to find a life partner.

Well, we’ve gotta say, despite being Valentine’s Day curmudgeons, we’re begrudgingly rooting for you, Aziro – at least no one can accuse you of not putting in the hours.
