Social media users urged to stop spreading the video of man fondling child, file police report instead

Social media users are being urged to cease circulating a video that went viral over the weekend of a man inappropriately touching and kissing a very young child. Instead, they are being urged to file a police report regarding the matter.

Activist Syed Azmi Alhabshi took to his personal Facebook page, along with a screencap of the video along with the child’s face blurred out, asking user to “please stop spreading the video in Kedah of this man and girl that has been spreading since yesterday night.”

“I have been trying to get the exact location for proper reporting and I have tried to ask everyone that shared (the video) to make a report. It doesn’t matter which nationality, just protect the child,” he said.

Much of the online chatter about the video centered on the race of the molesting man and his victim.

The short video showed a man holding young girl on his lap. He is then seen kissing her, while his right hand is underneath the pink dress she is wearing. Loud music can be heard in the background. The child’s identity is not censored in the clip.

Facebook page Durian Media was the first to carry the uploaded video, claiming that the incident had occurred at a fun fair Saturday night in Taman Ria, in Sungai Petani, Kedah.

The post, which has since been removed, saw users enraged, asking why the administrators chose not to file a police report, and why the child’s identity was not protected, if its intention was to raise awareness.

Police have confirmed that no reports regarding the incident have been filed, although they are aware of the video, and are currently trying to locate the man and his victim.
