RM2mil worth of drugs found in horse sculptures

A Nigerian man was arrested and RM2mil worth of drugs were seized by the police in Seri Kembangan on Thursday night.

The methamphetamine was found found hidden in seven ceramic horse replicas, which were believed to have been smuggled in from China through a cargo shipping service.

Federal police Narcotics Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff told The New Straits Times that the suspect was caught while he was unloading the boxes from the shipping container.

“The suspect, aged 28, was caught while he was unloading boxes containing the horse replicas which, when checked, contained four packets of drugs each inside,” he said.

“Tests conducted confirmed that the drugs were methamphetamine.”

The police believe that the man is part of a syndicate and are already working on tracking them down, Mokhtar added.
