Popular actor Sharnaaz Ahmad, known for his turn as Lan Todak in the film Juvana, has been hit with a RM1,200 (US$280) fine after being found guilty of slapping a Bangladeshi worker at a golf club.

While money can buy you memberships to fancy clubs, Sharnaaz Ahmad seems to have forgotten that manners are free.

The incident occurred at the exclusive Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, at 5:30pm July 22.

The actor’s wife, Noor Nabila, better known as the sister of mega femes actress Neelofa, did not appear with him in court yesterday as the charges and verdict were read out. He faced up to a year in prison, and/or a RM2,000 (US$300) fine.

Wearing jeans, and a white sleeved shirt, his lawyer asked the magistrate to be lenient, telling the court that his client was remorseful. He added that Sharnaaz Ahmad had apologized to the victim, Gous Ali, and that the injury was a result of misunderstanding.

Right.

In the immortal words of Kingsman character Harry Hart: “Manners maketh man.”
