Police seize cafe’s modified military truck

In the perfect world, this cafe would have had the most awesome marketing gimmick: an eye-catching military truck with a ‘Take Your Shot’ tagline printed on its side.

Of course, the world is not perfect as the police have seized Zawara Coffee’s modified army vehicle on Tuesday.

According to a report by The Star Online, the police have also arrested two employees who were driving the vehicle along Jalan Semarak Api in Cyberjaya. They were questioned and reportedly released later.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Ali told the news portal that members of the public alerted the police at 11.30am on Tuesday when they saw the vehicle roaming around Cyberjaya.

ACP Abdul Aziz added that the police tracked it to Multimedia University nearby and managed to stop the vehicle before arresting the employees and seizing the truck.

Meanwhile, Kamarul Ariff, Group CEO of Zawara Coffee Sdn Bhd, told The Star that the decommisioned truck was modified to resemble a military vehicle as a gimmick for his cafe business.

He clarified that vehicle’s paint job was not of military camouflage, but of food that the cafe sold.

Kamarul added that replica rocket launchers were attached with the slogan ‘Take A Shot’, to encourage their customers to try the cafe’s espresso shots.

“We are a family restaurant. The kids find the truck design entertaining. Some customers even take photos with the truck.

“No one has ever taken issue with the design until now,” he was quoted by the news portal as saying.
