Photos of wire trap across motorcycle lane go viral on social media

The next time you’re riding a bike on the motorcycle lane, please be extra vigilant

A group of suspected thieves reportedly placed wire traps across a motorcycle lane near a tunnel along the Shah Alam (Kesas) highway.

The robbery attempt came to light when a Facebook user uploaded several photos last Friday showing the wire trap, advising motorcyclists to be mindful of the trap.

The photos have since been widely shared on the social media site, with Netizens expressing shock and anger.

The wire trap is believed to have been set up by the suspected robbers to incapacitate victims before robbing them of their belongings.

Except for a member of the Kesas patrol team who suffered minor injuries after riding into the wire trap, no other motorcylists were reportedly caught in the trap, thanks to the quick action of Kesas Sdn Bhd.

Upon being alerted to the incident, the company reportedly dispatched a patrol team to investigate the claims and according to the daily, they reportedly found the trap and promptly removed it.

Meanwhile, Kesas confirmed that a police report has been lodged over the matter and they have stepped up their security monitoring.

According to a report by Bernama, photographs of the wire trap have been handed over to the police to facilitate investigations.

“The trap was discovered during a routine patrol along the motorcycle lane at 5am yesterday but no motorcyclists were caught in the trap.

“Immediate action by Kesas Patrol managed to foil the sabotage attempt against motorcyclists plying the lane,” the company said in a statement cited by the news agency.
