PAS shocks the masses: Declares that it is happy with international concert promoters skipping Malaysia

Party-starters, fun-time lovers, and imbibers of good vibes only, PAS, the conservative Islamist party of Malaysia, have shocked the masses, and gone on record to say that they welcome news that international celebrities are now skipping our country on their world tours.

Guys, this is so out of character, we’re worried.

According to PAS committee member Riduan Mohd Noor, visiting musicians like Selena Gomez, who the party protested last year, are impeding our country’s youth development.

Funny, because usually when people are worried about youth development, they tend to focus on education, and economic opportunities, not the lyrical meaning of loving someone like a love song. Cue: thinking emoji.

Ridhuan wrote in PAS’s online portal HarakahDaily that those who wish to see such concerts should do so by going abroad. “Not in Malaysia,” he wrote, explaining that our nation had a good reputation as an Islamic country, and that the majority of Muslims saw the decline in live music as a positive development.

Writing that it showed that Malaysian Muslims were successful in implementing the right for of Islam. He added that the news showed that sponsors were now becoming aware that Malaysia was “not like other countries that are completely free and open.”

Last September, Reuters reported that concert and other big events organizers were increasingly avoiding Malaysia as a stop on their tours, after the cancellation of a beer festival following protests from PAS and Muslim groups.

“It’s a good thing,” he wrote. “Especially for the growth of the younger generation. We may be viewed negatively by some, but it can protect the society and the country.”

He added that the majority of Muslims in the country agreed with him.

If you say so, sir.

In the future, we’ll just join metal-head, live-music lover, and coincidentally, President of the world’s largest Muslim country, Indonesia’s Joko Widodo, at the next Metallica gig in Jakarta. Or maybe even Saudi Arabia, who recently hosted 2000’s legend, shaker of a tailfeather, Nelly. Ja Rule can’t be far behind.
