Over 30 stalls at popular festive bazaar razed by early morning fire

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue have confirmed that an early morning fire today destroyed about 30 stalls at a popular Ramadan bazaar in the Jalan Masjid India area of the city.

Officials received a call at 1:35am this morning, alerting them of the blaze, with firefighters from four nearby stations arriving at the scene ten minutes later.

After officers from Sentul, Hang Tuah, Titiwangsa and Pudu fire stations managed to get the situation under control, the blaze was fully extinguished by 2:04am. Of the 30 stalls that were affected, garments, bags and shoes that belonged to the proprietors were completely damaged.

No cause to the fire has been determined as of yet.

Malaysians and tourists flock to the bazaar during the festive season, buying food, clothing and other goods for the upcoming Hari Raya holidays.
