Najib wants safety audit after twin LRT mishaps

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak a safety audit to be carried out after two incidents disrupted LRT services in the Klang Valley earlier today.

Taking to social media, the PM said the safety of passengers ‘is always given priority’.

“I am thankful that no one was injured in the incidents involving the LRT at the Setiawangsa and University stations. A safety audit must be carried out so that the safety of passengers is always given priority,” he said in a note posted on Facebook and Twitter.
 

 

Saya bersyukur tiada cedera di dalam kejadian melibatkan LRT di hentian Setiawangsa dan Universiti. Satu audit keselamatan perlu dilakukan agar keselamatan para penumpang sentiasa diutamakan.

Both incidents were reportedly due to faulty brakes in both trains.

Operator Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said new brake seals have been fitted on its 35 four-car trains, Bernama reports.
