Motorbike rider warns of fishing wire hazard cutting his neck off DUKE highway

Gombak-area resident Afiq Izwan took to his Facebook account to warn fellow riders of a danger that he encountered while riding home on the DUKE highway last night.

At the motorway exit to his housing park in Taman Rowther and Taman Koperasi Polis 1, the university student reported that a fishing line was strung across the motorcycle lane. Unable to see it, he writes that he was “nearly decapitated” by the taut and sturdy line at 6:30pm yesterday evening.

Writing that it was not an urban myth, but something that actually “happened to me,” he went on to add that the set-up resembled a trap. Previously, others had reported that thieves had snared the motorcycle lane with traps, hoping to mug unsuspecting bikers.

Unfortunately, Afiq suffered wounds to his neck, as well as a damaged motorcycle helmet. Having driven through the lane at a slow speed, he wondered whether a biker driving faster, or without a helmet, could have more seriously injured themselves. He has since lodged a police report on the matter.

The post has since gone viral, with 23,000 shares and 7,600 comments.

Gombak-area residents, riders, citizens: Heed notice that there may be people out there booby-trapping your exit.
