MMA fighter fined for enticing married woman

A mixed martial arts exponent was fined RM1,000 in default one month’s jail by the Magistrate Court for enticing a married woman to commit adultery, according to Bernama.

Syed Mohammad Murad Syed Naseem, 29, admitted to committing the offence involving a 33-year-old married woman at her home in Shah Alam on April 15 when the charge was read out to him by judge Siti Shakirah Mohtarudin.

The charge under Section 498 of the Penal Code carries a maximum two-year jail term, a fine or both, upon conviction.

According to court documents cited by the news agency, the woman’s husband, a businessman, lodged a report with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) when he found out that his wife had gone to Syed Mohammad Murad’s house.

The duo was reportedly detained for close proximity when JAIS raided the house at 4.30am on the same day.

Counsel Hazman Harun pleaded for leniency during mitigation, telling the court that his client was remorseful and had learned his lesson.

“Furthermore, he has just received an offer to compete professionally as an MMA athlete in Amsterdam.

“He was also involved in welfare activities and had given motivation talks for free to those in need such as orphans,” Hazman was quoted by Bernama as saying.

Syed Mohammad Murad reportedly paid the fine.
