A family who had previously been informed that their son had died, was shocked to learn that the son was apparently still alive.

The man’s father, known as Chantren, 45, said he received a phone call from Sungai Buloh Prison on March 3, informing him that his 19-year-old son had died the day before.

“We were asked to claim his body at the Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selangor, but the parties did not allow us to do so until I signed.

“As soon as we saw him, we found that his face after the post-mortem was different because there were stitches and his hair was bald,” he said when met by reporters at his residence in Taman Desa Permai here on Sunday.

He said that his son’s body was brought back to his house at about 12 midnight last night for funeral matters.

“However, around three to four hours before the funeral process was carried out, the prison contacted us through a video call to show that our son is still alive. I do not know how to even express my feelings. Our son is still alive, but whose body is at our house now?” Chantren said.

“Until now, we still have not been informed why our son was detained in prison for what offense, including confusion regarding the body that is here,” he said.

According to the father, the prison authority had since gone to his house and collected the body and he has also requested to meet his son in prison.
