A 45-year-old Perlis man lost a finger after a late-night brawl at a local kopitiam (coffee shop) with the man he had originally been calmly sipping drinks earlier with. No word on which finger was lost.
Police say that initial signs point (HA!) to a misunderstanding between the men, that quickly escalated to the suspect going to his car, grabbing a weapon, subsequently pulling a knife on the victim, and repeatedly slashing him. The victim sustained injuries to the head, a severed finger, and a severely damaged other hand.
New Straits Times reports that the incident occurred circa 1:50am yesterday. Both were later treated at Tuanka Fauziah Hospital. The consequence of the attacker’s actions hold a 20-year sentence and fine, or whipping, if found guilty.
Slashing doesn’t come with impunity, people.
